You Know Your System Sucks When …
I ordered some memory cards from an online retailer on Sunday (note: four days ago). Normally — nay — WHENEVER you place an order online you expect to receive an email confirmation. That’s a given.
However when I ordered from somewhere on Sunday I got nothing. Worse, when I logged in to check on my order, it said there was nothing. Hell, I even checked my credit card yesterday to see if the transaction was there. It didn’t show up and all seemed to be normal.
In any case, despite my doubts I actually re-ordered the memory cards thinking that I must have clicked a poorly placed cancel button. But sure enough, after going through everything the order process was the same. I double-checked everything as I went and still no email confirmation.
I emailed support staff, who told me to call them (epic customer service failure), called them and was told I had no orders on file. I didn’t feel reassured. Then 10 minutes ago I received an order confirmation. Which order is it for? It’s the Sunday one, I’m sure. Damn it.
DAMN IT.
I’m an idiot.
This does highlight an over-dependance on email confirmations, though. People of the internet, you have won: I have clearly become too used to a standard way of making purchases online.
